Our structured qualifications make becoming a ski or snowboard instructor more straightforward. Whether you want to teach ski, snowboard, telemark, adaptive or cross-country, holding a BASI certificate will open doors. You’ll instantly be part of a worldwide crew who have made the mountains their classroom and career.
Being a member of the BASI community also gives you access to Pro Deals and exclusive job opportunities.
As the UK’s grading and governing body for snowsports, we run all our courses in English. You can gain Level 1 abroad or in the UK. For levels 2 to 4, you’ll be taught the technical and teaching skills you need on snow, by our amazing BASI trainers. We run these courses at ski resorts across Europe – and internationally, too.
BASI qualifications are recognised by the International Ski Instructors Association (ISIA). They also get you UCAS points. We're the only association in the world that has academic recognition for a ski instructor course.
BASI is run by a core office team overseen by an elected board. We also have over 100 BASI trainers dotted around the globe.
Each Level 1 qualification – in ski, snowboard, telemark, adaptive or cross-country - gives you 7 UCAS points, up to a maximum of 35 points. This means that your dedication to teaching snowsports counts when it comes to university and college applications. Another bonus is that most of our courses have been rated by the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF), which counts in Europe, too.
